Job Description:
TDA Research, Inc., located in Golden, CO is seeking an
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager. TDA has a staff
of over 100, consisting of mainly engineers, chemists and
scientists who develop cutting edge chemical processes, materials,
and hardware. TDA is a federal contractor with customers in the
defense, aerospace, medical, materials, energy, and chemical
industries. In addition, we develop commercial products and
technologies through direct sales, distribution agreements,
spin-off companies, and licensing. TDA relies on a high level of
technical competence and efficiency within our team and look for
motivated, talented, and skilled innovators to join us in finding
novel solutions. Under the guidance of the VP of EH&S, the
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for
developing, implementing and managing policies and programs to
ensure a safe work environment and compliance with applicable
regulations. The EH&S Manager is required to be on-site daily
and will work closely with various departments to mitigate risk,
train employees, and manage corrective measures. It is vital that
this role fosters a positive culture of safety and environmental
responsibility. The EH&S Manager will also manage, coach and
support various EH&S employees. Roles and Responsibilities:
Actively manage EH&S policies and programs including but not
limited to: TDA Chemical Hygiene and Safety Plan, Emergency
Response Plan, Incident Response Plan (Fire, Lockdown, Spills,
Power) and Respiratory and Hearing Protection Manage EH&S
compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited
to: OSHA 1910, EPA (TSCA, RCRA and CWA), ANSI and NFPA & IFC Manage
documentation requirements per company policy and procedures
including but not limited to: SDS, SOP’s, Chemical Inventory and
Safety Inspections Lead the Emergency Response team and program
Proactively conduct gap analyses to identify regulatory
improvements and knowledge gaps across the organization Oversee
training programs to ensure current knowledge is communicated
effectively to technical and non-technical staff Manage structured
incident reporting, investigation and corrective action program
Analyze incident and safety performance data to identify trends and
improvements Establish and report on benchmarks and metrics Oversee
the Toxic Chemical and Hazardous Waste Management program Partner
with various departments and leaders to develop safe practices for
chemical, biological and equipment related hazards Coach managers
and supervisors on EH&S leadership, regulatory requirements,
and operational best practices Professionally represent the company
in interactions with regulatory and life safety entities. Foster a
positive safety and compliance culture through communication,
engagement and continuous improvement initiatives Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational
Health, Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering or a
Physical Science 5 years in an EH&S role in similar chemical
research and manufacturing environments Strong knowledge of
EH&S regulations applicable to scientific environments
Excellent chemical hygiene skills Ability to respond to emergencies
during non-standard work hours Current HAZWOPER Level 2 or higher
training Current IATA and DOT shippers training Demonstrated
ability to manage EH&S program and regulatory compliance
Experience developing EH&S documentation, systems and
compliance processes Ability to communicate safety expectations
effectively across technical and non-technical teams Proven
supervisory and team leadership experience Strong ethics and a high
level of personal and professional integrity Ability to manage
multiple competing priorities Team player with a drive for
excellence and ability to collaborate at all levels of the
organization Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: ASP
Credential CSP credential Active First Aid, CPR and AED
certification Job Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting,
standing and walking Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs Ability to be
certified to drive company vehicles and Powered Industrial Trucks
Fine motor skills for use of a computer, keyboard and phone High
level of visual acuity, with correction acceptable Ability to wear
and use PPE, including respiratory protection Frequent bending,
kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling to inspect spaces and
equipment Occasional use of ladders Variable noise levels (office
environment, lab environment and manufacturing environment)
Variable temperatures (requires work inside and outside the
facilities) Salary range per year: $110,000 – $140,000 with the
complete benefits package offered. This position includes the
potential for a performance bonus. Local candidates only, no
relocation or sponsorship offered. This range is based on a variety
of factors including, but not limited to: local market conditions,
internal equity, candidate skills, education, and experience. TDA
