#### Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides medical/athletic trainer functions under the direction of a physician in the Orthopedic Clinic within their certified capabilities. In addition, assists the head Athletic Trainer at Aspen High School as necessary.# Practices exceptional customer service assisting with the daily operations of the clinic, and provide general orthopedic patient care. Communicates and coordinates information in a knowledgeable and courteous manner with staff, patients, and families. Maintains confidentiality with patients, staff, and guests. # # TECHNICIAN/ ATHLETIC TRAINER WEIGHT I Technician 15% # Assists MD and staff as needed with patient care including vital signs, meeting basic needs of patient, patient positioning, splint and brace application, casting, crutch training; notifies MD or RN of change in patient condition. ## # # Always ensures accurate documentation including completion of all required forms, sign, date, time, and legibility of all documentation; Scans all documents as needed/required. # # Remove sutures and staples, provide wound care, call in prescriptions, provide rehabilitation exercise instruction and assist the physician during in office procedures.# Serve as caster, splint and brace fitter and provides general orthopedic patient care.# # # Assists with the flow of patients through the clinic.# Updating the patients and others as appropriate of delays or changes in the scheduling.# # # Allows patients the opportunity to be involved in decision-making as appropriate. # # Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously and responds to requests and messages in a timely manner. # # Greets patients/families by introducing self and maintaining eye contact. Obtains an interpreter as needed. # # Uses verbal and written communication methods effectively # # Takes accurate messages, relays/forwards messages to appropriate personnel, and refers callers to appropriate personnel as needed. # # Maintains medical records for clinic including preparing charts for new patients and scanning records of patients post visit. # # Serve as a one of the trainers for staff on casting, splinting and brace fitting.# # II Athletic Trainer/Service Excellence 15% # When head/primary athletic trainer is not available or needs assistance - responsible for immediate first aid; injury evaluation, prevention, and treatment; rehabilitation; nutrition/supplemental information; and serve as the concussion and head injury specialist for the high school.# Coordinate with hospital concussion and head injury personnel.# # # # When primary athletic trainer is not available or needs assistance - Game and practice coverage, including traveling with impact/contact sports for Aspen High School.# # III Patient Safety # Confidentiality 5% # Adheres reliably to all accepted patient safety standards # # Follows all security, confidentiality, and privacy policies # IV Unit Specific Duties and Responsibilities/Day to Day Operations 15% # Maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment of care and facilitates work flow of the clinic by maintaining open lines of communication, anticipating staffing and patient needs, and# collaborating with colleagues to problem solve and meet the operational needs of the clinic. # # Prioritizes work load to meet the needs of patients and the clinic. # # Participates in CQI activities as needed/requested. # # Participates and contributes to unit meetings and activities # # Provide discharge instructions to patients and their families working with Occupational Therapy, X-ray Tech, Nurse and Physician to coordinate care.# # # Assists with follow up phone calls after surgery or when patients have questions.# # # Assists with ordering and restocking of supplies and ensuring adequate office and clinic supplies are available.# # # Assist nurse and physician with correct charge entry.# Assist medical records and billing with obtaining all necessary documentation.# # V POPULATION SPECIFIC CRITERIA Pass/No Pass # Ensures developmentally appropriate care for all age groups presenting to the clinic (infant, pediatrics, adult, and geriatric patient population). # VI CORE VALUES 50% # Patient Centered:is passionate about patient care, creating positive impressions on a consistent basis and exceeding our patients# expectations.
