Hiring Range: $61,000-$70,000FLSA Status: ExemptPosition SummaryThe Deputy Assessor is responsible for the supervisory role of the office, especially when Assessor is absent. The Deputy Assessor is the main contact for state reporting, yearly audit, value setting and other managerial level roles and responsibilities. Supervises and is the first point of contact for all assessor's office staff to handle personnel and appraisal related problems. Is responsible for analyzing data to set values. Also responsible for timely reporting to Colorado Department of Property Taxation when necessary, sending certification of values, setting goals for team members and assigning tasks, answering taxpayers' questions, attending leadership meetings, working with other county departments to distribute necessary data, and other supervisory responsibilities as needed.General Duties and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Functions

Must possess Colorado Ad Valorem Appraisal License OR other Colorado appraisal license Determines the market value of assigned properties by using the appropriate approach- cost, market, or income approaches.Educates taxpayers in the assessment process and procedures used to arrive at actual and assessed values.Attend leadership and informational meetings as relevant to the assessor's officeAnalyze sales data to accurately set values for Lake CountySupervise assessor's office team members, assign tasks, and ensure completion of tasksComplete biannual evaluations of team members, suggest pay raises when appropriate, coach team members, set goalsCreate and maintain a work audit plan at least once per yearComplete all tasks related to the yearly auditReport to Colorado Department of Property Taxation as requiredSend certification of values to all taxing entities twice per yearBe familiar with the Assessor's Reference Library manualsBe aware of legislative changes that will affect the assessor's officeMay be required to site visits on occasion Performs related work as required.Duties subject to changeSupervisory Responsibilities
May be required to supervise Assessor's Office staff, including appraisers and administrative staff.May be required to supervise and take ownership of all Assessor's Office work products. Requirements
