ROLE SYNOPSIS
Thiess is seeking a Heavy Equipment Welder (site) to support our mining team on our project site near Denver, Colorado. The Heavy Equipment Welder will be responsible for safe repair of mining shovel, loader, haul truck, water truck, dozer, grader, and miscellaneous support equipment.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, and/or verbal instructions
  • Read, understand and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders
  • Set up, layout work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to rebuild, fabricate and/or rework parts to a finished product
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications
  • Assist others in the fabrication and welding of multi-component parts
  • Operate hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs
  • Inspect equipment to maintain functionality and if any equipment needs repairs notify the supervisor
  • Complete shop paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Performs other related duties as assignedDESIRABLE CRITERIA
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment with minimal supervision at times. -

    • Mining or heavy industrial construction experience considered an asset -
    • Ability and willingness to work different schedule on site based on project needs - -ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
      • High school diploma or GED certificate
      • Post-secondary certificate or degree in mechanical/weldingESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
        • 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair
        • Heavy equipment welding experience
        • Maintenance experience in a mining environment preferred
        • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
        • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
        • Must be fluent in the English languageADDITIONAL INFORMATION

              • Able to lift 50 pounds
              • Able to live and work at high altitudes (12,000 ft. elevation) for a week at a time
              • Able to work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit
              • Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders
              • Able to work for extended 12-hour shifts
              • Can work night shifts (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.) seven days at a time and properly manage fatigue
              • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)
              • Quick response/reaction times Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity
