Help guide our amazing Snowmaking team get our mountain open for winter! This position requires two years of snowmaking experience and previous supervisory experience. Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • Responsible for overall snowmaking production and safety
  • Oversee equipment set-up in proper locations
  • Provide guidance and training of all levels of gunrunners, world machine operators and assistant foremen
  • Responsible for correct routing of water through blockhouses
  • Oversees maintenance awareness and duties
  • Prepare scheduling and employee evaluations
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties, as assigned Minimum skills, experience, and education required for this job:
    • Previous supervisory experience required
    • High school graduate or GED required
    • Two years previous snowmaking required
    • Three years heavy equipment operations, preferably snowcat, preferred
    • Knowledge of Steamboat mountain terrain preferred
    • Lead, train and motivate staff
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Adhere to all safety policies
    • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation s Service Excellence standards
    • Problem solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers
    • Be a consistent role model for company s Service Excellence standards
    • Other duties, as assigned Physical Requirements:
      • Must be minimum 18 years of age
      • Lift approximately 50 pounds
      • Walk, bend over, and shovel snow, and lift, drag and move high pressure equipment on steep, uneven terrain in day and nighttime conditions
      • Work in extreme cold, windy and wet conditions with periods of poor visibility
      • Safely operate a snowmobile at an advanced level
      • Employee must ski or snowboard at a minimum intermediate level
      • Must have a valid driver's license and meet insurability standards Miscellaneous information:
        • This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime
        • Employment may be contingent on passing an on-snow assessment.
        • All Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation employees are required to follow adapting COVID policies and guidelines. The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
