The Technical Terrain Groomer must have at least one year of driving a snowcat and/or heavy equipment, operate equipment on extreme trails, winch utilization and have the basic understanding of race venue surface preparation. Additional training may be required based upon applicants abilities. Valid Driver s License is required and must have good night vision to operate equipment in the evenings. Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • Building and maintaining the resort and SSWSC race and training facilities
  • Use snowcat (Winch, Beast, Husky, Bison) to shape terrain, maintain a race surface on training sites and to do technical detail grooming around the resort for optimal guest experience.
  • Inspection of equipment
  • Clean equipment
  • Fuel equipment
  • Perform repair orders and computer entry
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties, as assigned Minimum skills, experience, and education required for this job:
    • Must have at least 1 year of experience driving a snowcat and/or heavy equipment
    • Must have mechanical aptitude
    • Must be able to operate equipment on extreme trails, including winch utilization
    • Adhere to all safety policies
    • Knowledge of the mountain terrain required
    • Basic knowledge of race venue preparation
    • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation s Service Excellence standards Physical Requirements:
      • Must be minimum 18 years of age
      • Must have excellent hand and eye coordination
      • Must have good night vision and can operate equipment at night
      • Lift approximately 40 lbs. (chain, removing implements)
      • Sit for long periods of time as well as climb in and out of snow cats, cabs
      • Walk on uneven slick conditions in extreme inclement weather conditions
      • Must have a valid driver's license and meet insurability standards Miscellaneous information:
        • This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay
        • Please note that staff who are required to drive a motorized company vehicle including off road vehicles such as snowmobiles, groomers, ATV's, etc., must provide a copy of their valid driver's license
        • Will work five 8-hour shifts Friday Wednesday 4:30 12:30

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
