Steamboat Ski & Resort Co., is looking for an Activities Manager for their Base Area Activities-including the Outlaw Mountain Coaster! This position requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in customer service and previous supervisory responsibilities. Additionally, knowledge of ASTM F24 and other standards for Amusement Rides and Devices, and Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Division of Oil and Public Safety Amusement Rides and Devices Regulations is needed. This position will require a resume and a current driver's license.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • Provide, train and model exceptional Service Excellence to all coworkers, employees and guests
  • Foster a fun and safe working environment where employees are actively engaged
  • Be coachable, work hard
  • Safely plan, manage and execute seasonal setup, teardown and careful storage of activity equipment
  • Supervise, evaluate and monitor the staff, including hiring, termination, coaching and training
  • Address guest service requirements and issues in the activities' areas
  • Maintain high levels of guest and employee safety, appearance and maintenance standards on and around all activity facilities, activity equipment, alpine mountain coaster and throughout the Land Up.
  • Daily opening and closing of business units
  • Manage labor and expense budget within established targets
  • Maximize revenue opportunities within the activities department through product development and operational excellence
  • Monitor weather and make operational decisions relating to delays and closures
  • Schedule staff, making weekly and daily adjustments, and organizing the schedule for each area to ensure proper coverage for business levels
  • Compliance with daily audit procedures, ticket validation, scanning and waiver collection.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspection logs, perform scheduled checks on critical parts and equipment, record and document all repairs and replacements and make sure inspection certifications are up to date
  • Recognize employees and document accordingly.
  • Schedule repairs with activity/lift mechanics on all equipment, complete orders for necessary parts and supplies, and ensure proper inventory of spare parts are in stock and available to replace damaged and worn equipment with minimal operational interruption and loss of revenue
  • Manage queues and equipment throughput to provide the best guest experience and maximize revenue
  • Coordinate special events as needed
  • Work with Sign Shop on all requirements for signage and ensure proper posting of warnings, safe operating procedures, policies and business hours
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability for this job:

  • Minimum 2 years in a position with an emphasis on customer service required
  • Previous supervisory skills required
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC's Service Excellence standards
  • Be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written are a necessity as well as a positive and polite demeanor
  • Quick thinking and calm demeanor in difficult and stressful situations
  • Basic accounting and or financial background preferred
  • Knowledge of ASTM F24 and other standards for Amusement Rides and Devices, and Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Division of Oil and Public Safety Amusement Rides and Devices Regulations
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Mechanical experience with equipment
  • ASTM F24, and Amusement Equipment and Devices regulations coursework (within 6 months)

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate clearly in English in person, on the phone as well as in all written communication, Spanish a plus
  • Must sit or stand for long periods of time - 8-10 hours
  • Must lift 50 pounds
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Miscellaneous Information:

  • Position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
  • This is a salary, exempt position that is not eligible for overtime
  • Employment for this job is contingent upon the successful completion of a background and motor vehicle check

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat area base salary range: $39,500 - $67,000 per year
