The Hotel Bell Captain at the Steamboat Grand Hotel must have at least one year of previous bell/valet experience and be able to pass both a motor vehicle and background check. Willing to lift up to 75lbs. on a frequent basis and work holidays, weekends and nights as needed.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:
• Supervise bell staff and parking structure staff: schedule weekly work assignments, assist in hiring and termination process, develop work procedures and inspection checklists
• Move luggage, skis, equipment, boxes, or other items as needed
• Valet cars
• Coordinate and provide shuttle service to guests
• Assist front desk staff as needed: answer phones, back up switchboard during busy periods, deliver messages to guests and staff
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of lobby and entryway: vacuum carpets, clean windows, shovel snow, remove trash, mop floors, empty trash cans and maintain fireplace, dust etc.
• Create schedule for department
• Respond to special requests
• Assist other employees with deliveries
• Resolve problems
• Assist in emergency procedures
• Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements.
• Other duties, as assigned

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:
• High School diploma or equivalency required
• Must have at least one year previous bell/valet related experience
• Must have or will obtain a valid (CDL) driver’s license with passenger endorsements and must successfully pass a motor vehicle background check
• Ability to problem solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
• Ability to be a consistent role model for company’s Service Excellence standards

Physical Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs on a frequent basis
• Must be able to communicate clearly in English

Miscellaneous information:
• This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay
• Position is required to work holidays, weekends, and nights as needed
• Employment for this job is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
• Pursuant to county and/or state orders and company policies, every employee is required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently, wear a mask per current guidelines, self-report and call in immediately and stay home if sick and assist with sanitizing and disinfecting work areas. Employees must follow all resort mitigation plans and protocols, which can be found posted on resort buildings and on Beekeeper
 
 

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

 

Steamboat area base hourly pay range: $14.00 - $21.00 per hour
