Asst/Associate Director of Admissions, Western Regional Representative Position Title Asst/Associate Director of Admissions, Western Regional Representative Location Other Department Admissions Position Type Staff Position Description & Qualifications ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS" WESTERN REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS TO: Dean of Admissions LOCATION : Remote, residing in the western United States (preference for Washington, Oregon, California, or Colorado) PRIMARY OBJECTIVE : Lawrence University, a top tier college of liberal arts and sciences and conservatory of music, seeks to significantly expand our admission presence within the growing markets of the western United States. Regional representatives are responsible for the territory management, relationship development, and the enhancement of the university's reputation. The regional representative will contribute to the university goal of increasing applications for admission and continually selecting students for admission who are most likely to thrive at Lawrence. GENERAL Lawrence University seeks a smart, enthusiastic, and creative professional who will bring a unique perspective to the admissions team. The admissions team at Lawrence takes a collaborative approach to a student-centered admissions process. A successful regional officer will be proactive in coordinating and assisting colleagues in the home office. As a regional territory manager, this position takes ownership of the goals for that particular region, but also contributes to the greater institutional mission to prepare students for lifelong learning, meaningful citizenship, personal fulfillment and lives of achievement in a diverse learning community. The regional officer has an opportunity to build relationships with students and their families as someone who is a part of their community. The representative will be physically based in the geographic area they manage. Project responsibilities and title commensurate with experience. DUTIES : - Recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of a diverse body of students. - Contribute to team leadership, recruitment strategy and overall admissions goals. - Coordinate off campus recruitment programs and events. - Advise and counsel prospective students and their families about Lawrence, the admission process, and financial aid either in person, virtually, on the phone, or through electronic communications. - Organize and travel to high schools and attend college fairs in assigned geographical territory and special populations as needed. (Assigned territory includes several western states.) - Conduct interviews with high school students and parents. - Cultivate and strengthen relationships with school-based and independent counselors, alumni and other key constituents in the recruitment process. - Present to small and large groups about Lawrence and the admissions process. - Read and evaluate applications for admission. - Participate in workgroups or projects as assigned. - Perform other related duties as assigned. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS : Work collaboratively with staff and faculty as well as prospective students, their families, current students, alumni, school counselors, and independent counselors from a variety of backgrounds. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED : - Bachelor's degree. - Collegiate recruitment or related experience preferred. - Ability to work with autonomy and minimum supervision while also collaborating with and contributing to a team. - Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects, think strategically, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative. - Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate across numerous channels both internally and externally. - Demonstrated cultural competencies to work with diverse populations of students and support diversity, inclusion and access in student recruitment. - Understanding of and commitment to the ideals of a liberal arts education. - Experience with database systems and Excel preferred. - Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel extensively.
