Works under Corps Officers/Corps leadership to coordinate volunteers and community outreach events for the Corps. Social Services/Pathway of Hope Identify and assist clients appropriate for and desiring long term case management through Pathway of Hope. Listen and assess for other needs such as emotional and/or spiritual support and connect with Salvation Army and other community resources. Provide informational materials as needed. Oversees and coordinates the organization and daily operation of the Food Pantry program. Dispenses food orders during weekly distribution hours and in emergency situations. Drives as necessary to pick up food donations. Develop and use working knowledge of community services and housing resources etc. to provide appropriate case management/referrals; provide referrals to other community resources as appropriate to access additional resources for clients to assist clients with their case plans and goal attainment Document all client meetings, encounters, and transactions, as well as enter specific information into Client Management System assuring that accurate and timely records, reports, and statistics are maintained. Participate fully with Pathway of Hope team activities locally and divisionally. Volunteers Develop and implement a system to actively recruit, screen, place and train volunteers within the various Corps programs following guidelines set by the Division and the Central Territory. Oversee and monitor the performance of volunteers to ensure they are supported in their roles, and have the tools needed to accomplish the assigned task. Serves as a Safe from Harm trainer and works with department heads and program leaders to ensure compliance with Divisional and Central Territory volunteer policies. Special Events Coordinate Community outreach events for the Corps and families, including quarterly family fun nights, education classes, Back to School back packs, Food Drives, Angel Tree, Adopt a Family, and Toy Shop. Oversees event set up and publicity, receipt and processing of donations, distribution process, reports and follow up, etc. Collaborate with the Youth Development Coordinator to promote Corps activities and Camp opportunities. Qualifications What we are looking for in you: Education: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Must obtain the Territorial Caseworker Certification within one year of hire Experience: Two years experience working within a social services agency or social work field; administrative support experience preferred. Or - Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities Skills: Ability to learn and apply principles and practices of social work and case management techniques relevant to the services offered Professional boundaries and ethics for social service employees Ability to relate to people, be non-judgmental in approach, and allow clients their right to self-determination while treating them with dignity and respect Demonstrate good interpersonal skills Recordkeeping principles and practices; correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to operate basic office equipment. Able to operate computer and office software Must be able to work independently and with other staff members Be able to handle multiple demands with good time management skills Supervisory Responsibility: N/A Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties of this job.
