All Points North Lodge is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to work on-site in Edwards, CO!

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in healthcare accounts receivable management, hospital or inpatient experience preferred. Strong customer service skills and comfortable discussing collections and payment plans with patients. Must be able to work on-site in Edwards, CO.

About the Position:
The Patient Financial Counselor offers financial assistance to patients regarding medical bills. The Financial Counselor performs the quality control function for all inpatient accounts, including insurance, private pay, and scholarship accounts, ensuring all pertinent information is available and accurately documented, allowing for timely and efficient billing.

Education: High School Diploma, required. Associates or Bachelor's degree, preferred.

Experience:
Two plus years' experience working in healthcare setting, required.
Comprehensive understanding of accounts receivable management in a healthcare setting required.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and behavioral health coding, desired.
Strong customer service experience and the ability to talk to patients about balances and collect.
Special Skills & Knowledge: Candidates should have the following skills and attributes: must be able to work and communicate well with people; be adaptable and accept changes quickly and easily; be willing to address conflict appropriately. Basic computer skills are required with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based products knowledge a bonus.

Routine mobility to include standing, stooping, bending, lifting, walking and running.
Regularly required to sit and work at a phone/computer work station

Materials & Equipment: Copy machine, Multi-line telephone, personal computer, and fax machine

Essential Requirements:
Two plus years' experience working in healthcare setting, required.
Comprehensive understanding of accounts receivable management in a healthcare setting required.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and behavioral health coding, desired.
Strong customer service experience and the ability to talk to patients about balances and collect.
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise discretion when working with patients and insurance companies.

Position Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Generating weekly status reports
Communication with multiple departments and working with Utilization Review Coordinators to monitor accounts for proper documentation of third-party review notification, authorizations, insurance verifications.
Collection of deposits, self-pay balances, balances for adjunct services and securing reimbursement methods of non-insured admits and services.
Serves as support to patients and their family members to assure customers have access to all available financial options, this involves; working with insurance, payment plans and other options.
As a support agent, the Financial Counselor will explain the patients insurance, requirements at the level they are admitted and the step-down process. Counselor will also meet with the patient if a status changes during the review process with the payor.
Financial Counselor will explain the patients options regarding private pay, payment options and invoices that may be needed during the patients stay.
Financial counselor will obtain payments for HBOT and DTMS and enter in the EMR.
Financial counselor will be the initial contact for scholarship or no charge requests from other team members. Counselor will then obtain appropriate authorization prior to granting the request.
Assist patients to navigate through various facility and provider bills.
Provide answers to reimbursement questions regarding health plan eligibility, benefit issues, co-pay requirements and medical referral requirements.
Prepare estimates, calculates payments, and inform patient of acceptable arrangements on balance.
Work with Director of Finance and the Contact Center Director to negotiate and strategize patient payment arrangements.
Appropriately document and report payment information, update patient account and balances.
Comply with current rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Salary range: $50,000-69,000/year
