Position Title: Concrete Journeyman, Finisher

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Location: Vail

Reporting Relationship: Concrete Foreman and/or Superintendent

Position Summary:

A Concrete Journeyman Finisher is responsible for the placement and finishes of concrete, including but not limited to; floor slabs, sidewalks, curbs and gutters. Finishers are required to complete work safely, with quality and within productivity specifications as directed by the foreman or superintendent.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate and collaborate with the crew during daily huddle to ensure safety, quality and productivity goals are set.
  • Verify form work and elevations
  • Facilitate placement of concrete
  • Consolidate screed concrete
  • Demonstrate use of all concrete related tools
  • Spreads, levels and smoothes concrete by performing all required finishes such as trowel, broom, expose and stamp (decorative)
  • Layout and perform all control and expansion joints
  • Complete concrete repairs to plan specifications
  • Understand and apply curing and sealing requirements based on job specifications
  • Other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent

Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years of equivalent work experience
  • Preferred ACI flatwork/finisher technician certification

Requirements:

  • Attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness
  • Conserves materials and meets productivity set forth by supervisors
  • Observes all safety procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses and maintains equipment and materials properly. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all time and according to safety specifications.

  • risk of electrical shock
  • vibration
  • weight of heavy material, such as hoses, pipes, trowel machines and saws

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 120 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
