Job Description:

CMM is looking to hire a Lead Laboratory Technician to support our moderate complexity lab. The Lead Laboratory Technician is responsible for the day to day patient testing activities within the laboratory. They are responsible for ensuring adequate work coverage, quality monitoring, staff training, minor problem resolution in the assigned area of responsibility and maintaining a safe operating environment. The Lead Laboratory Technician performs and oversees moderate complex laboratory testing. This position will be located in our clinic in Avon, Colorado and typically consist of 4 shifts weekly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Orients new personnel to procedures and policies.
  • Provides training and monitors competencies of lab technicians.
  • Oversees the work of technicians in the section to include planning work, handling procedural and technical problems.
  • Ensures that there is adequate lab technician coverage.
  • Adhere to quality control programs in compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations; prepare and maintain applicable records.
  • Prepare technical reports, as required. Participate in the development of new procedures and techniques.
  • Adhere to and ensure staff follows laboratory testing policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Quality Assurance, Safety, and Infection control practices in the section to assure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor testing inventory of material supplies and reagents and order as necessary. Communicates needs accordingly.
  • Maintain equipment used in testing according to manufacturer's specifications and keep records as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Provide advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, interpretation/consultation, verification of specimen quality and test results with management and vendor assistance.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with Laboratory Manger, Medical Director, physicians, clinical staff, other department supervisors, vendors, or outside agencies as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MT or MLT certification required.
  • Minimum Associates degree in Biology or Chemistry OR 1 year similar Lab experience required
  • 2 Year clinical experience preferred.
  • Lab technology proficiency required.
  • Ability to work under stress and adhere to deadlines while working, independently or with others.
  • High level computer proficiency and ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, interpret and communicate diverse and complex information.
  • Ability to effectively organize resources, establish priorities and perform multiple tasks.
  • Professionalism and ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must be HIPAA compliant.

SUPERVISORAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scheduling lab personnel
  • Oversite of lab personnel daily responsibilities and quality monitoring
  • Interviewing/ Training of new staff

  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination in operation and manipulation of complex laboratory equipment
  • Seeing up close, long distances, color, and adjusting and focusing vision.
  • Hearing to normal range.
  • Working indoors in an office environment.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a medical clinic environment.
  • Direct contact with corrosive chemicals, infectious agents, handling glassware and needles.
