Job Description:

The Pharmacy Director is responsible for facilitating balanced and efficient departmental function.#This includes establishing and maintaining a high quality of service, maximum efficiency and economy of operations through organization, management, and coordination.#The Director has ultimate responsibility for, and makes final decisions and commitments within, the framework of the established department. # ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS #### I ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES # # Personnel Management- Manage Pharmacy staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions. # # Fiscal Responsibility- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for Pharmacy spending and initiatives. Develop and review budget for Pharmacy department and ensure it complies with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives. # # Regulatory # Accreditation Compliance - Develop and implement all Pharmacy policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision. # # Staff Development# Ensure that Pharmacy staff members are aligned with department and organizational goals. Provide continued educational opportunities to support those goals. # # Departmental Quality # Performance Improvement# Develop and implement strategies to continually improve quality and performance of the Pharmacy department as it relates to the mission and goals of the organization. # II SERVICE EXCELLENCE/CUSTOMER SERVICE # # Demonstrates purposeful service excellence through exceeding patient and coworker expectations. # # Represents the department/hospital as a dedicated, courteous, and responsive employee # III COMPLIANCE WITH RULES, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES # # Records pertinent documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy. # # Adheres to federal, state and hospital rules and regulations concerning HIPAA privacy and security. # # Follows Hospital compliance plan and policies, including the Code of Conduct. # # Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, etc.) # IV UNIT SPECIFIC DUTIES # RESPONSIBILITIES / DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS # # Acts as Administration#s representative to Pharmacy staff # # Seeks physician input and feedback and addresses concerns with appropriate follow-through # # Thoroughly documents problem follow-up and measures taken to prevent recurrence # # Serves as an information resource for hospital staff and patients # # Maintains service and product contracts with vendors; complies with buying group requirements # # Establishes procedures, methods, and work schedule for pharmacy operations; coordinates activities with other facility departments # # Establishes liaisons with the nursing staff for consultation regarding medications, calculations, and intra-pharmacy/nursing operating procedures # # Maintains an adequate inventory of medications at the pharmacy, as well as maintains emergency medications at the hospital to insure timely implementation of medication administration # # Maintains availability for consultation with representative of regulatory agencies regarding hospital pharmacy practices and procedures # # Appropriately delegates responsibilities amongst staff # # Serves as Pharmacy representative to P#T Committee; participates in other hospital committees and groups as appropriate # # Ensures security in the pharmacy and medication security throughout the facility in regards to federal, state and regulatory agency statutes, rules, and regulations. # V PROFESSIONALISM # # Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional decision making and professional growth. # # Participates and contributes to departmental meetings and activities. # POPULATION SPECIFIC CRITERIA ### No Rating # Demonstrates the ability to assess and interact with customers of all ages, recognizing language and learning barriers, and technology challenges. # # Able to state his/her duties during a code pink drill. # VII CORE VALUES # # Patient Centered:is passionate about patient care, creating positive impressions on a consistent basis and exceeding our patients# expectations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from recognized School of Pharmacy

Prior hospital pharmacy experience required

Prior management experience preferred

Strong knowledge of 340B program and USP 800 required

LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION
