Job Description:

The Assistant Ski Patrol Director is a full time seasonal role (November through mid-April). Assists the Patrol Director with the daily operations and management of Ski Patrol and the EMS operations at Ski Cooper. -The Assistant Director acts for the Director in their absence and provides safety, first aid, and rescue services for the patrons of Ski Cooper.

Duties and responsibilities

--- - - -Assists the Ski Patrol Director in the management of the daily operations of the Ski Patrol department
--- - - -Responsible for follow through on any aspect of patrol documentation to include training, reports, and or investigations
--- - - -Provides safety, first aid, and rescue services for the patrons/employees of Cooper and maintain confidentiality regarding the operations of Cooper Hill Ski Area Inc. and all patient care
--- - - -Operates snowmobiles
--- - - -Participates in Risk Management procedures, including incident investigation and assistance with developing and improving documentation
--- - - -Attends and participates in annual training refresher courses required to maintain OEC, CPR, toboggan handling, and lift evacuation certifications
--- - - -Plans and implements daily avalanche routes, and explosives application including leading, directing, and supporting other patrollers in correct and successful mitigation techniques
--- - - -Trains and teaches less experienced staff all aspects of patrol duties and processes
--- - - -Coordinates and collaborates with other Mountain Operations and ski area departments and staff to contribute to the success of both Patrol and company goals
--- - - -Any other tasks assigned

Qualifications

--- - - -High School Diploma or GED required
--- - - -Must be 21+ with current and valid Colorado Driver's License
--- - - -Positive, professional attitude
--- - - -Ability to work solo or as part of a team, including team leadership
--- - - -Proficiency with computer software used by the patrol to include 1 Risk, Excel, Word, Outlook, UKG, and One Note
--- - - -Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Ski Area Risk Management practices and general ski area operations
--- - - -Proficient skiing ability, i.e. PSIA Level 8 Advanced Skier, comfortable on all terrain and in all conditions
--- - - -NSP Outdoor Emergency Care Technician and/or NREMT Basic Emergency Care Technician certification
--- - - -Provider Level CPR/AED (AHA preferred) certification
--- - - -Have one or more of the following certifications: Instructor for NSP Outdoor Emergency Care or Outdoor Emergency Transportation or Provider Level CPR/AED Instructor
--- - - -Level 1 AAIRE certification preferred

Working conditions

The Assistant Patrol Director position is based primarily outside and is exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (10,500+ feet).

Physical requirements

Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and ski at an advanced level.
